Glacier FarmMedia—Do you know a woman working in agriculture that has made an outstanding contribution to the industry? If so, a nomination to receive an international “Women in Ag Award” may be in order.

DLG, the German Agricultural Society, which hosts the farm shows Agritechnica and the animal husbandry-focused EuroTier in Hannover, Germany, is accepting nominations for that award until July 31.

The organization is accepting nominations or direct applications from women internationally. The award winners will be selected by an international jury made up of representatives from agricultural practice, science, organizations and the media.

Farm cash receipts rise in first half of 2025 on livestock gains

Farm cash receipts in the first half of the year were up 3.3 per cent over the same period last year buoyed by livestock receipts. Overall receipts between January and June totalled $49.6 billion, up $1.6 billion from the same period last year, Statistics Canada reported.

The focus is on special achievements in the development of local, national and international agriculture. The awards are presented in four categories: agriculture, agribusiness, technology and research, and education. The winners will be honoured at the award ceremony held at EuroTier on Nov. 13 in Hannover.

The 2024 event will mark the third time the annual awards have been held. Past nominees from Canada have included former Saskatchewan deputy agriculture minister Alanna Koch, who was a nominee in the agribusiness category in 2023.

“In just two years, the Women in Ag Award is already highly recognized in the industry,” says Kim Schoukens, editor-in-chief of the digital publication Women in Ag Magazine, which with DLG jointly presents the awards.

“This is demonstrated by the high number of candidates, the impressive portraits of the winners and the great attention in the media and among the public. At EuroTier 2024, we want to continue this success story with strong personalities from agriculture, agribusiness, education, technology and research.

“Any woman working in these agricultural sectors can be nominated. From female farmers who work in arable farming or animal husbandry, to female agribusiness experts and engineers, to women who work in teaching, research and development or in the media. What all applicants have in common is that they show an outstanding commitment to global agriculture.”

Social media influencers are also eligible.
