John Deere 7030 large-frame tractors

John Deere’s entries in the mid-range category are based on its 7030 large-frame series tractors, including the 7630 with 140 pto hp the 7730 with 152 pto hp, the 7830 with 165 pto hp and the 7930 with 180 pto hp.

An efficient 6.8-litre power-tech engine drives the large frame 7030 tractors. According to Deere, this provides superior fuel economy compared to the previous 7020 series tractors with the 8.1 litre engine. The new 6.8-litre powerplant also delivers a 40 per cent torque rise and 10 per cent more power, thanks to the adoption of innovative new technology that increases power, responsiveness and efficiency.

There are several transmission choices on the 7030 series. Base equipment is the 16-speed 19-mph Power Quad Plus transmission. However, you’ll also want to check out the 25-mph Auto Quad Plus and the John Deere IVT, which stands for “infinitely variable transmission.”

Emphasis is placed on the comfort and control within the 7030 tractors series. For instance the comfort features include items such as an automatic temperature control, Active Seat, leather heated seat and instructional seat.

AGCO RT Series

AGCO is staking its pride and its future on its new RT series, which the company says will be tough to beat for efficiency and productivity. Is it talk, or is it fact? At the very least, these are tractors worth taking a look at, including the RT 155a, the RT 165a and the RT 180a, with 155, 165 and 180 PTO horsepower respectively.

The Tier 3 AGCO 6.6-litre SisuDiesel engine powers the RT 155a, while the bigger 7.4-litre SisuDiesel drives the RT 165a and the RT 180a. According to AGCO, these SisuDiesel engines have high torque right down to 1,000 rpm, giving these tractors incredible ability to pull in difficult conditions or to haul fully loaded trailers on long steep gradients.

These tractors feature the auto-6 power shift transmission that has been praised by the American Society of Agricultural Engineers for outstanding innovation. According to AGCO, the power shift transmission provides auto-shifting capabilities that allow the transmission to function similar to an automatic transmission in a car. When engaged, the auto shifting system will sense the engine rpm and the load, and then select the correct power shift speed automatically.

McCormick TTX Series

The fuel-efficient McCormick TTX series tractors feature electronic common rail injection along with a power management system that produces extra power for pto work. They also come with new 6.7 McCormick B-Power engines bringing 174 to 203 pto hp and plenty of torque for greater performance and flexibility.

The electro-hydraulically engaged PTO, featuring a reversible shaft with 6/21 splines, provides two speeds of 540/1,000 rpm, while the powerful electronically controlled rear hitch ensures a maximum lift capacity of 10,950 kg.

Like other manufacturers, McCormick likes to talk about cab comfort. The company says its highly efficient heating and air-conditioning system along with the deluxe air seat and ergonomically arranged controls make the perfect operator’s environment. On top of that, the optional hydraulic cab suspension further maximizes comfort, improving not only operator comfort but efficiency too.
