Krone has recently unveiled its line of Big X forage harvesters ranging from 570 to 1,078 hp. The Big X 700 has eight cylinders while the Big X 850 and 1100 are powered by 12 cylinder Man D2862 engines.

The new Big X forage harvesters are led by the Big X 1100, which Krone says is the world’s most powerful forager. It features a new open-space comfort cab, a new joystick for operator control and new MAN engines. It also features spring-loaded VariStream crop flow with an optional Biogas cutter head. There is also the EasyCollect 1053, which according to Krone is the world’s widest header, cutting up to 14 rows in one pass.

On the Big X 1100 the Krone Management system allows operators to conserve fuel by switching from Eco Power to X Power mode and vice versa, thereby adjusting engine output to current conditions. Eco Power is used in situations where it isn’t necessary to operate the unit at full capacity, but when the situation changes where you need more power, selecting X Power by the flick of a switch helps the operator respond to the job.

Inside the Krone Big X is the VariStream continuous flow with its six hydraulic-drive pre-compression rollers and large cutter head with up to 40 knives which ensures a blockage-free and smooth operation even when the crop is not uniform.
