The new 8R and 8RT Series Tractors from John Deere utilize a CommandARM with an integrated CommandCenter display. Many of the features which came from the 8000 series in 1995 have been totally fused into the CommandARM. The controls and Command- Center follow the operator as the seat swivels for added comfort.

The CommandARM controls the hydraulic, hitch and transmission settings. The operator can also access the FieldCruise, ITEC programmable functions, HVAC controls in the deluxe and premium cabs, MFWD controls and the lights and radio. There is also individual access to all primary tractor controls such as engine throttle, hitch/SCV controls, PTO, automatic PowerShift, AutoTrac and ITEC sequence switches. That’s a lot of control on one arm.

Complementing the CommandARM is the GreenStar (GS3) CommandCenter, which is the central information system for the 8R and 8RT series tractors. It is located at the end of the CommandARM. The seven-inch colour display is divided into three regions, left hand, centre and right hand. The left-hand region can be configured to monitor three tractor functions. The right-hand region shows the shortcut keys to desired information. Operators can program additional shortcut keys that will appear in the right-hand area. The centre area either shows the main home pages or displays the information relative to the current settings the operator is adjusting.
