Versatile tractors are powered by engines made by Cummins, which gets a big chunk of the credit for fuel efficiency gains, according to Adam Reid, Versatile marketing manager. Then Versatile ensures these engines work seamlessly with the electronic systems of the Versatile tractors.
Cummins says that optimal fuel efficiency is continuously achieved by full-authority electronic control of the HPCR fuel system. This enables multiple injection events with very high fuel injection pressure across all rpm speeds, resulting in cleaner combustion and improved engine response.
Versatile is meeting the interim Tier 4 emissions standards by having a diesel particulate filter attached to the engine, which Reid says will be more efficient for farmers. Versatile tractors are now going through the Nebraska test labs. Previously, these tractors had not been tested at the Nebraska lab.
