Multiple factors affect fuel efficiency. Ordinarily, that can make it even harder to achieve fuel efficiency but Fendt has taken the opposite approach. Instead, the company has designed a tractor management system (TMS) that works in concert with their engines, transmissions and electronics to boost efficiency.

When activated, the TMS controls the engine and the transmission. According to Fendt, the driver can choose between the joystick and the pedal control and only needs to set the desired speed. On a slope, as the load increases, TMS increases the engine’s speed. As soon as the load decreases, the quantity of fuel is reduced. TMS drives the tractor at the lowest engine speed possible.

The new 800 Varios tractors also include a new Adblue technology, where the exhaust is after-treated with Adblue, a 32.5 per cent urea solution that converts nitrous oxides into non-toxic nitrogen and water.
