Challenger used Louisville to unveil its new MT585B (165-hp) and the MT595B (180-hp) tractors. The tractors, with the new Techstar CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission) transmission, are a major expansion of the company’s mid-range MT500B tractor line.
According to Challenger, The Techstar CVT transmission has the fewest number of moving parts of any stepless or power shift transmission in the industry. To keep contamination to a minimum, Challenger has built a separate oil reservoir to isolate transmission oil from what goes to the implements. The CVT transmission is set by the operator for a specific ground speed. The transmission and the engine then choose the most efficient engine speed to generate the maximum productivity.
These new tractors are powered by the new AGCO SISU 74CTA engine, which according to Challenger produces greater pulling power at low engine speeds for superb fuel economy and a high work rate.
