National Highlights

In spite of shorter days and typically cold, inclement weather at this time of year, a weak El Nio is expected to translate into a milder and drier than usual weather pattern across most of the Prairies and Ontario. Nevertheless, this being winter, snow, blustery winds and cold temperatures will still be evident in these areas of the country from time to time. In British Columbia, the northern Prairies, Quebec and the Atlantic provinces, average winter weather is anticipated as weather disturbances move through. This will result in alternating mild and cold spells and occasional heavier snowstorms. Later in the winter, it is possible that El Nio s gentler touch may extend into these parts of Canada as well.

Prepared by meteorologist Larry Romaniuk of Weatherite Services. Forecasts should be 80 per cent accurate for your area; expect variations by a day or two due to changeable speed of weather systems.
