WINNIPEG, MB, Aug. 21, 2018 (CNS Canada) – ICE Futures
canola contracts were lower Tuesday morning, as United States
President Trump downplayed trade talks with China.
Chicago Board of Trade soybeans and soymeal contracts were
all down, while soyoil contracts were mixed. Palm oil and
European rapeseed contracts were also lower.
On Monday Trump said that there’s “no time frame” for the
end of the countries’ trade war with China. This comes as
Chinese officials are set to meet with U.S. officials on
Wednesday to discuss trade between the two nations. Previously
traders had been feeling optimistic about the meeting.
The Canadian dollar was stronger this morning, which was
bearish for canola.
About 2,100 canola contracts had traded as of 8:32 CDT
Tuesday morning.
