July 26 (CNS Canada) — The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.

– Investigators say there is no evidence that the Islamic State terrorist group had any connection to the shooting in Toronto, despite the group’s claim. The weekend shooting killed two people and injured 13.

– Canada and Mexico are insisting that the North American Free Trade Deal remain a three-way deal, between themselves and the United States. U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue raised the prospect earlier that a deal with Mexico might be negotiated first in order to get a deal in place by September.

– The European Union and the United States have reached an agreement to hold off on a trade war, at least for the short term. U.S. President Donald Trump suspended any action on his threat to impose extra tariffs on European cars. In exchange, the EU renewed previous promises to increase economic ties with the U.S. and vowed to purchase more soybeans.
