– Australia became the sixth country to ratify the Comprehensive and Progressive
Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership. The trade deal, which Canada ratified last
week, comes into effect at the end of December.
– Democrats could put up legislative hurdles to passage of the
United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement should they make major gains in
next week’s United States mid-term elections.
– Goldman Sachs Group said gold is benefiting from fears the U.S. economy
could slip into recession as stocks continue to slide.
