- Tesla has recalled more than two million vehicles, including 193,000 sold in Canada, to address a defect with its autopilot system. The fix will be provided by an over-the-air software update sometime in the New Year.
- Finland will sign a defence co-operation agreement with the United States on Dec. 18, according to the Nordic country’s government. Finland is the newest member of NATO and this agreement will grant the U.S. military broad access across the country’s border with Russia.

- Canadian manufacturing sales declined by 2.8 per cent in October to C$71.0 billion, according to a report from Statistics Canada. Sales were down in 12 of 21 subsectors, with sales of petroleum and coal products losing 10.3 per cent at C$8.4 billion.
- Meanwhile, retail sales data out of the United States showed an unexpected 0.3 per cent rise in November, according to data from the U.S. Commerce Department’s Census Bureau. Average pre-report estimates had called for a 0.1 per cent dip during the month.
