Global Markets: Iran seizes oil tanker

– Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has seized a foreign oil tanker reportedly smuggling fuel in the Persian Gulf. The vessel was the same ship that was initially towed into Iranian waters after sending out a distress call earlier in the week, according to reports.

– An arson attack at an animation studio in Kyoto, Japan has left at least 26 people dead with dozens more injured, according to reports out of the country. The 41-year-old suspect has been detained.

– The Hibernia oil platform off the coast of Newfoundland has stopped production after an isolated spill from a storage cell was discovered. Efforts are underway to resolve the problem and clean the spill. The amount of oil spilled is not yet known.
