Global Markets: IMF cuts global growth forecast

WINNIPEG, Oct. 9 (CNS Canada) – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.

– Citing escalating trade tensions, the International Monetary Fund cut its forecast for global economic growth for 2018 and 2019 to 3.7 per cent, from 3.9 per cent. The downgrade was the first in just over two years.

– A Brexit deal could come together within the next few weeks, according to officials in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

– Hurricane Michael is bearing down on Florida’s northern Gulf Coast, with landfall expected on Wednesday.
