WINNIPEG, Sep. 14 (CNS Canada) – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.
– Hurricane Florence made landfall on the North Carolina coast early Friday morning. While the storm has been downgraded to a Category 1 hurricane, it is moving very slowly and is expected to lead to ‘catastrophic’ flooding over the weekend.
– Russia is conducting its largest wargames in years, with 300,000 troops, 1,000 aircraft and two naval fleets involved in the Vostok-2018 drills in Siberia and the Bering Sea between Russia and Alaska.
– The European Union will put an end to seasonal time changes in October 2019. An EU survey found 84 per cent of 4.6 million respondents in favour of putting an end to the practice of moving the clocks forward an hour in the spring and back an hour in the fall.
