WINNIPEG, Nov. 8 (CNS Canada) – The Canadian dollar is slightly down Thursday morning.
At 8:33 CST Thursday morning the Canadian dollar was at
US$0.7631 or C$1.3101, which compares with Wednesday’s North
American close of US$0.7636 or C$1.3096.
Bombardier Inc. announced Thursday morning it was cutting 5,000 jobs as the Canadian manufacturer restructures. Bombardier is selling its Q Series turboprop aircraft program and its business aircraft flight and technical training unit for $900 million.
The price of oil Thursday morning is down by 50 US cents. West Texas Intermediate crude this morning is at US$61.17 per barrel after closing yesterday at US$61.67 per barrel.
Gold is also down Thursday morning to US$1,225.10 per ounce from yesterday’s close of US$1,228.70 per ounce.
The Toronto TSX/S&P Composite Index was up 5.81 points as trading got underway Thursday morning at 15,375.24.
