Canada’s biggest grain handler has added corrugated grain bins to its retail offerings.

Viterra, which formed earlier this year from the merger of Saskatchewan Wheat Pool and Agricore United, announced Tuesday it will launch a new line of bins under the brand name Westor.

The bins are engineered by Westeel and will be sold exclusively through most of Viterra’s 275-plus crop input retail outlets across the Prairies, the company said. The Westor line will also include optional aeration equipment and other accessories to go with the bins.

The company said Westor bins will be available in both flat-bottom and hopper-bottom configurations that can either be pre-built (usually for smaller bins) or built on-site by Viterra contractors.

The bins can be built to capacities of 2,390 to 56,700 bushels, a company spokesperson said. Hopper-bottom bins are usually built up to capacity of about 15,000 bushels.

Vice-president Kevin Hallborg said in a release that the bin line is an example of the company’s commitment to “developing innovative equipment solutions that improve our farm customers’ operations and help to protect their margins through quality products.”
