Syngenta Crop Protection has released Touchdown Total, a higher-concentration version of its Touchdown iQ glyphosate product.

Compared to Touchdown iQ, which is concentrated at 360 grams per litre acid equivalent of glyphosate, Touchdown Total is formulated at 500 grams per litre, the company said in a release Monday.

“This means less product handling is required to achieve the same consistent results,” the company wrote, noting 0.72 litres of Touchdown Total equals one litre of Touchdown iQ.

The company also noted that the new product has a built-in antifoamer to save time and hassle at loading. Past that, the new product contains all the same label registrations and the same adjuvants as Touchdown iQ.

Glyphosate is a popular and non-selective Group 9 herbicide that controls annual and perennial grasses and broadleaf weeds indiscriminately, affecting most weeds and volunteer crops except for those developed with resistance to the chemical, such as genetically-modified Roundup Ready crops.
