Provincial ag economist Wayne Thompson has been named the new executive director of the Saskatchewan Canola Growers Association.
Thompson, while working for the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture’s economic and commodity analysis division in Regina, was involved in ministry files such as farm income, biofuels and crop pricing analysis, the Saskatoon-based SCGA said in a release Wednesday.
Thompson was raised on a farm near Carnduff, Sask. and has an M.Sc. in agricultural economics from the University of Saskatchewan.
Looking ahead, “the Saskatchewan canola industry will deal with important policy issues such as input costs for canola production and developing value-added products from canola,” Thompson said in Wednesday’s release.
