The New Brunswick and federal governments are providing more than $284,000 to help Canadian Syrup Inc., a maple syrup company in Elgin, N.B. build a modern and more efficient plant.
The provincial government is providing $40,000 through the NB Growth Program to enable the company to build a 1,080-square-metre (12,000-sq.-ft.) plant with modern processing equipment and an automatic bottling system. The federal government is contributing a $244,000 repayable loan through ACOA’s Business Development Program.
The plant produces maple syrup, maple butter and other fruit-flavoured syrups. “Canadian Syrup Inc. has been a solid, home-grown New Brunswick company since 1869, and our government is proud to be supporting it as it continues to grow,” Albert MLA Wayne Steeves said in a release.
