Ontario grain and oilseed growers who haven’t yet got a personalized application form for the provincial risk management program (RMP) can call Agricorp to get one, the agency said Monday.
Over 20,000 application packages have been mailed to eligible Ontario farmers, who must review, revise (if need be), sign and mail back the personalized form by November 15 at the latest, Agricorp said in a release.
The RMP, announced by the province in August, requires participants to take part also in both the CAIS program and production insurance (PI) for all three years of the pilot program. The PI requirement will be waived for 2007, however, because the PI enrolment deadline has already passed.
Participants must also grow at least one of the eligible grains or oilseeds and enrol all eligible grain and oilseed crops for all three crop years in RMP. The RMP premiums will be waived in 2007, Agricorp said.
Agricorp, which as the provincial government’s farm risk management agency administers the RMP pilot program, said it expects to begin issuing payments as early as December.
