MarketsFarm — The amount of canola crushed in July was down compared to June’s crush, while there was an increase in the amount of soybeans crushed, according to Statistics Canada.
The federal agency issued its crushing statistics of major oilseeds report on Tuesday.
According to the report, 806,868 tonnes of canola were processed in July, for a drop of 6.7 per cent from the previous month. The July crush produced 355,098 tonnes of canola oil, down 7.1 per cent from June. At 448,268 tonnes, canola meal was down 8.3 per cent.
Some 125,875 tonnes of soybeans were crushed in July, for an increase of 3.4 per cent over the June crush. There were 22,764 tonnes of soyoil produced, which was up 1.5 per cent over the previous month. The amount of soymeal produced in July came to 98,378 tonnes, which was 5.6 per cent more than in June.
