Bayer CropScience has launched a new campaign urging farmers to beat herbicide resistance by rotating chemicals and crops.

The company’s “Mix It Up” awareness campaign, launched Tuesday, will include advertising, print materials and a web site with advice on how to manage weeds that have developed resistance to the herbicides that previously controlled them.

The campaign recommends combining crop rotation, rotation of herbicide modes of action and a mix of “traditional crop practices.”

Each of the three management practices “is designed to break up the predictability weeds thrive on,” said Bayer cereal herbicide portfolio manager Ross Deveson in a release.
