Alberta rancher Kevin Boon has been named the new general manager of the British Columbia Cattlemen’s Association, on the retirement of Bob France.

Boon’s family has ranched for the past seven years at Tomahawk, Alta., about 100 km west of Edmonton. The family has ranched for 100 years, previously operating at Delia, about 45 km northeast of Drumheller.

Boon previously served as vice-chairman of Alberta Beef Producers and as a producer rep on boards and committees with other associations such as the Beef Information Centre, Canada Beef Export Federation and National Check-off Agency.

“With a long-standing record of volunteering for the beef industry, Kevin brings extensive knowledge and a clear understanding of the issues affecting our industry,” the BCCA said in a release Thursday.

Boon has already moved full-time to the Kamloops area, where the BCCA keeps its head office, the association said Friday.
