Glacier FarmMedia — The Canadian dollar was holding near unchanged Monday morning.
At 9:08 a.m. CDT the Canadian dollar was trading at US$0.7302 or US$1=C$1.3695 which compares with Friday’s close of US$0.7308 or US$1=C$1.3684.
Canadian wholesale sales (excluding petroleum, petroleum products, and other hydrocarbons and excluding oilseed and grain) were up 0.1 per cent in May to $84.2 billion, reported Statistics Canada. Trade tensions with the United States eased slightly during the month, with respondents indicating that trade issues had impacted their business falling to 36.9 per cent from 43.6 per cent the previous month.
Crude oil prices were slightly softer Monday morning, backing away from the three-week highs hit Friday. Texas Intermediate was down 0.28 per cent at US$68.26 per barrel.
The TSX was stronger, rising 100.93 points at 9:08 CDT to trade at 27,123.93.
