Canadian dollar and business outlook

WINNIPEG, Sept. 11 (MarketsFarm) – The Canadian dollar was lower on Friday, due to comparable strength in United States currency.

     At 8:35 CDT Friday morning the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7584 or US$1=C$1.3185, which compares with Thursday’s North American close of US$0.7598 or US$1=C$1.3162.

Global stock markets were higher to start the day, driven largely by gains in tech companies, including Netflix and Amazon.

The TSX was up 91.41 points at 8:50 CDT to trade at 16,276.68 points.

Crude oil prices were slightly lower on Friday. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) was down 11 cents at US$37.19 per barrel. Brent Crude was down 25 cents to trade at US$38.81.
