WINNIPEG, Aug. 20 (MarketsFarm) – The Canadian dollar was weaker on Thursday morning, as the United States dollar index moved slightly above 93 points.
At 8:55 CDT Tuesday morning the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7552 or US$1=C$1.3241, which compares with Tuesday’s North American close of US$0.7592 or US$1=C$1.3171.
Canada’s stock indices were lower in early morning trade due to losses in the financial, energy, and industrial sectors.
The TSX was down 69.2 points at 9:00 CDT to trade at 16,508.17 points.
Crude oil prices were also lower on Thursday. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) was down US$1.31 at US$41.50 per barrel. Brent Crude was down by US$1.28 to trade at US$44.09.
