Farm succession: Where to begin?

Recognizing that the process of farm succession is lengthy, involved and requires a solid end goal can help farmers determine where to start.

Farmers told us they want one place to get everything they need for the farm. We listened. By bringing Country Guide into The Western Producer and Farmtario, we can deliver the same thoughtful stories and clear reporting in a more unified and dependable package.

You’ll continue hearing from voices you trust. Our editorial team of Lisa Guenther and April Stewart is making the transition with you. Their leadership and commitment to farmers will carry directly into this next chapter.

This shift helps us manage Canada Post disruptions while giving you steady access to our content in print and online. We will keep listening as the transition unfolds, and your feedback will help shape what comes next. Putting farmers first remains our priority.

What to expect

If you are in Western Canada, your subscription will merge into The Western Producer. Inside The Western Producer, you’ll find Country Guide content in the Farm & Family section. And if you already receive The Western Producer, we’ll be in touch with an offer tailored to your unique situation. You don’t need to do anything today.

If you are in Ontario, your subscription will merge into Farmtario. We will share more details as the transition begins.

If you have questions or want to talk with us, you can call Farmer Services at 1-800-665-1362. This is optional. You don’t need to contact us for your subscription to continue.

We’re excited that you’re joining us on this journey for Country Guide content into The Western Producer and Farmtario. Thank you for reading and for helping to guide the future of farm journalism.
