– China has retaliated with new tariffs on US$16 billion
worth of American imports on items including fuel, steel,
automobiles and medical equipment. The move follows the U.S.
move to place tariffs on US$16 billion worth of Chinese
goods entering the United States. The additional 25 per cent
duties have been included on items such as semiconductors,

– The controversial Trans Mountain pipeline from Alberta to
the British Columbia coast has been delayed but it will be
completed, Natural Resources Minister Amarjeet Sohi said.
The federal government bought the pipeline in May for C$4.5
billion. Regulators gave approval for the project to proceed
last week or a large portion of the pipeline, but it faces
still opposition from activists.
– United States President Donald Trump insists he did
nothing illegal involving payments made to two women to keep
silent on their alleged affairs with Trump, because the
money came from him and were not campaign funds. Trump’s
former lawyer Michael Cohen pleaded guilty to campaign
financing violations in relation to the payments.
