Alberta Agriculture has reminded the province’s farmers that Sept. 30 is the deadline for applications under the Canada Alberta Excess Moisture Initiative II (CAEMI II) program to aid producers dealing with excess spring moisture that resulted in unseeded acres and/or seeded acres being lost to flood.

CAEMI II will provide $30 per eligible acre in Alberta to producers with land too wet to seed annual crops as of June 20, 2011, or for land already seeded to annual crops for 2011 which were lost due to flooding on or before July 31, 2011. Forage crops seeded in 2011 and lost to flood by July 31, 2011, are also eligible.

To participate in the program, all affected producers must submit a CAEMI II application form to the Agriculture Financial Services Corporation (AFSC) on or before the Sept. 30, 2011, deadline. Application forms are available at www.AFSC.ca or by calling toll-free at 1-877-899-2372.
