Grain Guard, a brand better known on the Prairies on aeration equipment for grain bins, is about to appear down east on the bins themselves.
Edwards Group, the Lethbridge, Alta. maker of Grain Guard and Keho grain aeration and air-drying equipment and Edwards livestock waterers, on Tuesday announced it will launch a new line of bins in Ontario under the Grain Guard name.
Ag Growth International, Edwards’ Winnipeg-based parent, “sees the addition of a bin line to Grain Guard’s existing conditioning equipment catalogue as a natural extension and an opportunity to better serve existing and new customers,” Russ Klassen, Ag Growth’s director of Canadian sales, said in a release.

Grain Guard’s bin line will be a series of wide-corrugation flat storage bins, ranging from 15 to 60 feet in diameter, with full-floor aeration and options for 10-inch tube-style or “U-trough” bin unloads.
The bins’ walls will feature four-inch corrugation with what Edwards bills as a “unique” half-inch corrugation depth and “W”-profile stiffener design for strength and stability.
The bins’ design also includes a corrugated roof with a three-inch multi-step roof rib, 40-inch filler cap and options for round or 15-inch square roof vents.
The move to expand the Grain Guard line follows Ag Growth’s announcement last week that it will consolidate Edwards’ operations, previously based at Lethbridge, with those of grain bin maker Twister Pipe about 30 km northwest at Nobleford.
The company’s plans at Nobleford include a $15 million, 76,000-square foot, “state of the art” facility for corrugated grain bins, plus a 25,000-square foot expansion of an existing plant to handle Edwards’ product lines.
