Two years ago, Rayglen Commodities
Inc., one of the largest agricultural commodity
brokerage companies in Western
Canada, added a platform for grain trading
to its established website.
At the time, there were few such sites for
Rayglen to learn from, so the company had
to blaze its own trail. Toby Torkelson, Rayglen
general manager says simply, We saw
a need for it and decided to start our own.

commodity systems in Canada for growers
to determine prices. A lot of commodity
trading has basically become a cash market
in Canada, says Torkelson.
The Rayglen service simply adds another
venue for farmers to sell their grains and
oilseeds, and it s convenient. Buyers and
producers can log in and purchase or sell
grain online 24 hours a day.
Already, the Rayglen site has a couple of
thousand users making trades, mostly from
Western Canada and the northern United
plants, crushers, feedlots, and grain
