The Canadian Pork Council will pare back its board from 18 to 11 members under a new structure to take effect this month.
The council on Monday also announced a new corporate logo and its move to a new office on Laurier Avenue West, about five blocks south of Parliament Hill.
The CPC said Monday it has completed a process that reviewed the CPC and its governance and set up a structure for a new 11-member board that will meet “more frequently” than the previous board.
“This announcement represents a fresh perspective and an enhanced commitment to the Canadian swine industry,” CPC president Jurgen Preugschas, a hog producer from Mayerthorpe, Alta., said in a council release.

For the week ending July 19, Western Canadian feeder cattle markets were unchanged from the previous week, although volumes were limited.
“Many exciting changes are underway at the CPC and I know the results will further strengthen and support the Canadian swine industry as one of Canada’s most successful and dynamic agri-food sectors.”
“We are excited about the revitalization that is taking place at the CPC and know that the changes will provide a more collaborative working environment for our members,” CPC executive director Martin Rice said in the same release.
“We see the new board structure and corporate identity as a positive and necessary step for the council’s growth.”
The move leaves the council’s Ottawa phone numbers and e-mail addresses unchanged, the CPC said.
