New Brunswick’s provincial government has put up a new, more detailed wind map showing areas best suited to wind energy projects — and zones that are off limits to wind turbines.
The province’s new Technical Wind Power Potential map builds on the wind atlas released in March, targeting regions more precisely and removing zones such as roadways or parks where wind turbines can’t be placed.
The new map was developed by Yves Gagnon of the Universite de Moncton and released today in Quebec at a Canadian Wind Energy Association conference. His high-resolution wind map of New Brunswick, released in March, already offered 25 times more information than the previous available map, the province said in a release.
