Global Markets: U.S./North Korea Sign Symbolic Agreement

WINNIPEG, June 12 (CNS Canada) – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.

– U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean President Kim Jong Un signed a symbolic agreement at their summit in Singapore. The deal includes security guarantees from the U.S. and promises of a move towards denuclearization from North Korea, although it was short on specifics.

– Quebec’s provincial government is offering C$100 million in loans and guarantees to small business in the province hurt by U.S. steel and aluminum tariffs.

– Canada produced a record 141.8 million barrels of crude oil and equivalent products in March 2018, according to a report from Statistics Canada. That compares to the previous record of 141.1 million barrels set just a few months earlier in December 2017.
