WINNIPEG, April 16 (CNS Canada) – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.

– Air strikes were conducted against Syria by the United States, France and Great Britain over the weekend. The strikes were in response to an alleged Syrian chemical weapons attack. Syria and its ally Russia have denied the use of chemical weapons, and the heightened tensions in the region were being followed closely by the financial and energy markets.

– Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with the Premiers of Alberta and British Columbia and vowed that the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion will move forward as it “is of vital strategic interest to Canada.”
