- Talks between Russia and Ukraine in Geneva ended Wednesday with no significant progress on ending the conflict ahead of the four-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion. The negotiations, brokered by the United States, were the third round this year with more talks expected. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the military discussions as “constructive,” while a Russian advisor to President Vladimir Putin said the talks “were difficult but businesslike.”
- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is being sued by a group of health and environmental groups. The legal challenge comes after last week’s move by the EPA to rescind a 2009 government declaration on carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, eliminating all greenhouse gas emissions standards for cars and trucks in the country. The legal filing asserts that the EPA decision is unlawful.
- U.S. President Donald Trump will host the inaugural meeting of his “Board of Peace” in Washington on Thursday, with plans for the reconstruction of Gaza the stated focus of the meeting. Most major world powers, including Canada, have declined invitations.
