Canadian Dollar and Business Outlook: Little movement for loonie, crude oil

Glacier FarmMedia – The Canadian dollar continued to move upwards on Friday morning.

     The loonie was at US$0.7266 or US$1=C$1.3763 as of 8:47 a.m. CST, compared to Thursday’s close at US$0.7260 or US$1=C$1.3774.

     The United States Dollar Index was up 0.09 of a point at 98.44.

     Crude oil prices nudged lower due to oversupply concerns, but declines were tempered by increased tensions between the U.S. and Venezuela. West Texas Intermediate was down US$0.05 at US$57.55 per barrel. Brent crude oil declined US$0.11 at US$61.17/barrel.

     The TSX/S&P Composite Index gained 69.18 points at 31,729.89.

     Gold rose US$60.00 per ounce at US$4,373.00.
