– The United States House of Representatives passed legislation on Saturday, including a US$95 billion package providing financial aid to Ukraine (US$61 billion), Israel (US$26 billion) and the Indo-Pacific region (US$8 billion). Along with the three separate measures, the House also passed a measure to place sanctions on the seizure of frozen Russian assets. In addition, a deadline nine months from now was placed for TikTok’s Chinese parent company ByteDance to sell its stake in the social media app or face a ban in the U.S. All of the measures received bipartisan support, although Republicans were split on the bill. The U.S. Senate is expected to pass the entire package as soon as Tuesday.

– The head of Israeli military intelligence Maj.-Gen. Aharon Haliva resigned from his post on Monday, according to a statement. In a statement, Haliva accepted responsibility for failing to anticipate the Hamas-led attack on Israel on Oct. 7, which killed approximately 1,200 people. Israel’s head of the armed forces and the head of its domestic intelligence agency have also previously accepted responsibility, but remain at their posts.
– Honda Motor Co. and the federal government are set to announce a multi-billion dollar deal later this week, which would see electric vehicles and their components built in southern Ontario. Honda currently has a manufacturing plant located in Alliston, Ont. north of Toronto. The federal government will help pay for capital costs through investment tax credits. One Japanese news outlet reported earlier this year that Honda considered a US$14 billion investment in Canada.
