– The federal carbon tax rose today as the national price on carbon emissions increased from C$65 per tonne to C$80. As a result, fuel will cost Canadians an extra 3.3 cents per litre of gasoline. The Canadian Carbon Rebate will also rise along with the fuel levy, with a single adult from Alberta expected to receive C$225 every three months, as well as C$188 in Saskatchewan and C$150 in Manitoba. A family of four in those provinces should expect to receive C$450 in Alberta, C$376 in Saskatchewan and C$300 in Manitoba. Rural residents will receive an extra 10 per cent in their rebates. British Columbia, Quebec and the three territories do not receive federal carbon tax rebates.

On Sunday though, he blessed the 60,000-plus in attendance and greeted well-wishers while riding in his Popemobile.
