Glacier FarmMedia MarketsFarm – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.

  • Florida Governor Ron DeSantis suspended his Republican presidential campaign on Sunday and has endorsed rival Donald Trump. The exit of DeSantis leaves former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley as the only major candidate still challenging Trump.

  • Conditions presented by Hamas to end the war in Gaza were rejected by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday, as attacks on the embattled Palestinian enclave continued. In exchange for releasing hostages, the conditions included leaving Hamas intact and holding power in Gaza, which Netanyahu “reject(ed) outright.”

  • Search efforts for two U.S. Navy SEALs who went missing in the Gulf of Aden earlier this month have been called off after 10 days, with their status changed to ‘deceased,’ according to military officials. The SEALs were reported missing after boarding a vessel believed to be carrying Iranian weapons on Jan. 11.
