- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is in Washington, D.C. this week to request aid from lawmakers in the United States amid Ukraine’s ongoing conflict with Russia. Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives have so far refused to pass a US$106 billion supplemental bill containing aid for Ukraine without also including unrelated changes to U.S. border security.

- Israeli strikes on the embattled Gaza Strip continued into Tuesday, with soldiers reportedly entering a hospital in northern Gaza. Many officials suggest the offensive could go on for weeks or months. Dozens of people were killed in the latest attacks including women and children. While much of the international community has called for an immediate ceasefire, the U.S. has vetoed those efforts at the United Nations Security Council.
- Representatives from around the world continued to work on reaching a consensus on climate negotiations at the COP28 summit in Dubai, with the phasing out of fossil fuels remaining a contentious issue between countries as negotiators work to find a compromise.
