Global Markets: Gulf leaders sign agreement

WINNIPEG, Jan. 5 (MarketsFarm) – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.

– Gulf leaders have signed a ‘solidarity and stability’ agreement at a summit in Saudi Arabia, ending a three-year long dispute between Qatar and a group of countries led by Saudi Arabia. Leaders of the six-member Gulf Cooperation Council signed the Al-Ula declaration, named after the Saudi city where the summit is being held. Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates had cut diplomatic ties with Qatar in June 2017, accusing the country of supporting terrorism and being too close to Iran.
