Canadian Financial Close: Loonie steady on Tuesday

WINNIPEG, Sept. 1 (MarketsFarm) – The Canadian dollar was steady on Tuesday’s close.
The dollar finished the day at US$0.7660 or US$1=C$1.3055, compared to Monday when it closed at US$0.7668 or US$1=C$1.3042.

The TSX Composite Index gained 130.55 points to close at 16,644.99.

Benchmark crude oil prices were slightly stronger. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) was up 31 cents to close at US$42.92. Brent Crude was up 45 cents at US$45.73.

Canada’s agricultural sector fared as follows:

Maple Leaf Foods                 dn $ 0.30     at $ 28.72
Nutrien Ltd.                     up  $ 0.73     at $ 49.04
Ritchie Bros Auctioneers Inc.    up  $ 0.71     at $ 77.03
Rocky Mountain Dealerships Inc.  up $ 0.08     at $  5.83
