WINNIPEG, Aug. 21 (MarketsFarm) – The Canadian dollar was slightly lower on Friday, as its United States counterpart regained some strength.
At 9:00 CDT Friday morning the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7557 or US$1=C$1.3241, which compares with Thursday’s North American close of US$0.7579 or US$1=C$1.3195.
Global economic data has indicated a recovery from the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, with business activity in the U.S. growing in August at its strongest pace since 2019. However, concerns of spiking cases still linger.
The TSX was down 119.63 points at 9:15 CDT to trade at 16,487.13 points.
Crude oil prices were also lower on Thursday. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) was up by 60 cents at US$41.82 per barrel. Brent Crude was up by 44 cents to trade at US$44.84.
