WINNIPEG, July 6 (MarketsFarm) – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.

– India has overtaken Russia with the third highest COVID-19 cases in the world. With 700,000 confirmed cases and nearly 20,000 deaths, India is now the third-worst in the world behind the United States and Brazil. Canada has just over 105,000 cases, according to the most recent data, with an estimated 8,729 deaths.

– Tensions between India and China along the contested border through the Himalayan Mountains are reportedly easing, with Chinese troops pulling back from the region, according to reports. Soldiers from the two nuclear-armed countries clashed high in the mountains in June, leaving at least 20 Indian soldiers dead and an unknown number of Chinese casualties.

– The United Kingdom will provide more than 1.5 billion pounds (US$2 billion) to help the arts industry in the country recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. Museums, theatres, music venues, cinemas, and galleries will all receive funds through the relief package.
