– Canada’s Liberal government will deliver a speech from the throne today, as Parliament returns to session. Governor General Julie Payette will read the speech from the Senate chamber, and the speech will communicate the Liberal government’s agenda for the coming years. “I think the speech has to strike a balance between the Liberal election promises and reflecting the mood of the country in terms of the results. It wasn’t a wholesale endorsement for the Liberals,” said Greg MacEachern, a Liberal strategist, to CBC.
