5 tips for fungicide application

If you’ve decided to invest in added fungicide protection this season, do everything you can to get your spray spot-on. And to help you get the most out of your investment, I’ve put together my top five fungicide spray tips.
1. Take a good hard look at your crop

Out of all your fields, which ones will offer you a good return if you protect them with a fungicide?
2. Stage your crop for the correct application timing

Pay special attention to the leaf stage or per cent flowering.
3. Control your boom height

In ideal situations, you’d like to be about 20 inches above the target to get a good, even spray pattern. You’ll know what works on your farm.
4. Water equals coverage

Higher water volumes help ensure that you get optimal fungicide coverage on the plant, letting you penetrate deep into the crop canopy where disease grows and festers.
5. Slow down your sprayer

There’s no need to race through your field. Instead, slow down to a controlled speed so that you can get the best possible coverage on the entire plant.
Ultimately, a good fungicide spray will help you protect your yield potential and maintain your quality when your plants are setting yields and filling out.
