It makes me irate when it is perceived that it is the province’s fault that they put in their budget and collected money from an industry based on a previous year. Also, if only that industry had reduced the price of its product, it would have increased sales as well as kept its plants/mines operating, keeping people working and enabling farmers to keep a balanced fertilizer program on the land. — Garnet Funk

Just a question on the Maple Leaf article: they mentioned losses on the hog production side. As I understand, the hogs are raised by the farmer, so is he not taking the brunt of the losses? My belief originally was that the hog farms were set up in a loop, where the farmer was told what and how to feed the hogs. I would like to know what marketing plan they use now. — David Best
