– North Korea reportedly launched a missile from a submarine off its east coast on Wednesday, according the South Korean military. If confirmed, the missile would be the first launched from underwater in three years and was seen as a threat by South Korea and Japan. It came shortly after North Korea announced it would resume talks with the United States.
– Speaking at the Conservative Party’s annual conference, United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson presented urged the European Union to compromise on a Brexit deal, but also stressed that the UK would leave the EU by Oct. 31 with or without a deal. “We are coming out of the EU on October 31, come what may,” said Johnson.
– Protests in Hong Kong escalated on Wednesday, as students walked out of classes and thousands rallied in the streets to denounce the shooting of a teenager by police on Tuesday.
